The church was designed by the architect Cecil Upcher (perhaps best known in the city for saving and restoring Pulls Ferry and the Ferry House, where he lived and worked) and built between 1932 and 1938. A statue of St Alban in an alcove > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/6308909 can be seen on the exterior wall of the chancel. The 14th century baptismal font > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/6308917 comes from a church in Knettishall in Suffolk (the parish of Knettishall has always been in the Norwich Diocese). The altar painting > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/6308933 was created by Jeffrey Camp in 1955 and depicts a blond-haired Christ in Glory, with Norwich scenes below. The glazed windows > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/6308926 of a side chapel are engraved with scenes from the Nativity.
