Cadw records that the fountain and statue of Llewelyn ap Iorwerth are dated 1898. An inscription shows Llewelyn ap Iorwerth Founder of Conwy Abbey AD 1184. The structure was Grade II Listed for its special interest as a high-quality late 19th century public sculpture and for its contribution to the historical townscape of Lancaster Square.
