This building was designed by architect George May as a Co-operative department store, a role that it fulfilled from opening in 1964 until 2008 Image After closure it was listed grade II (list entry 1393220). For some years afterwards the Co-Operative retained a small presence as a convenience store and post office (hence the large postbox outside) but it is presently disused and awaiting redevelopment as an "incubator for digital start-ups".
