A product of the thriving tourist economy of Victorian and Edwardian Warrenpoint, the park was badly neglected during WWII and later during the Troubles. In 2018 it was refurbished by the Newry, Mourne and Down District Council at a cost of £1 million pounds. Much the funding came from the Heritage Lottery Fund. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-45373244
