The view, east, along Castle Street. Back in the 1970’s Castle Street had a very unwelcoming feel among the black taxis, street vendors, alcohol-dependant and assorted undesirables taking advantage of the generally lawless and disorderly nature of the era. The looming mass of the building helped contribute to an air of foreboding. Part of the street is now used by those of no fixed abode for whom English is not a first language.
