The start of a heritage trail through Chilworth Gunpowder Mills where explosives were made for nearly 300 years between 1626 and 1920. "Although a large majority of buildings were demolished in the 20th century over 100 key buildings still remain within the site. Chilworth Gunpower Mills is one of the earliest examples of gunpower mills and in the first half of the 17th century it was the sole legal producer of gunpower in England " https://www.visitsurrey.com/things-to-do/chilworth-gunpower-mills-p879891
