The road is apparently called St Thomas Well. As for the well, I am grateful to a helpful local resident, with whom I chatted, for filling me in on some of its history. I chose not to photograph the well itself, on account of its situation, but, for those who are interested, some other contributors' earlier pictures show it: Image / Image / Image
