Described in its 2005 Grade II listing https://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/300084412-ondara-house-newport#.XZDe4kZKjcs as "a distinctive C19 mariner's house, retaining traditional character with some fine late Georgian detail internally, and consistent later C19 exterior detail", Ondara House is thought to be early 19th century in origin, and appears to be named after a ship which sank in 1870.
