The east front of the house with several Riley cars. Chavenage House is an Elizabethan country house built in 1576 and probably incorporating fragments of a late 14th century building. Additions were made in the 17th, 18th and early 20th centuries, all in keeping with the original style and materials. The house is renowned for (a) its connection with Cromwell in the Civil War (b) its reputation as one of the most haunted houses in Britain (c) its connection with Poldark, a popular television series.
