This is the Caldon Canal at Bedford Street Bridge (No 2), looking north towards the Bedford Street staircase locks. There are two linked locks in the staircase. The gates between the two chambers are being opened to allow a boat to move from the lower chamber into the upper chamber before filling that, after which they will be closed, the upper chamber will be filled, and it will navigate out of the staircase and towards the camera. https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2475431
