Grade II Listed early 18th century public house retaining parts of an earlier 17th century building. Minutes of the Petty Sessions of 7th December 1796 state they were held at 'the house of John Hansord, the George Inn, Alford'. The George is included in the list of James Hole & Co Ltd pubs, established 1870, who were acquired by Courage, Barclay & Simonds Ltd. in 1967 and ceased brewing in 1983. In November 1977 the Provisional Formation Committee of Rotary Club of Alford and Mablethorpe began at the George Hotel Alford. Incorporated in 2014 George Inn (Alford) Ltd. was desolved in September 2018. 2019 the inn is part of Admiral Taverns that was established in 2003. Based on the following directory entries it appears the inn was previously called the George & Dragon (G&D); 1828 William Houlden (G&D); 1835-1841 Charles Cross (G&D); 1856 Isaac Headland (G&D); 1861 Samuel Copperthwaite (G&D); 1868-1872 Mrs Ann Copperthwaite (G&D); 1885-1896 Abraham Whitton (G&D); 1901 no victualler named (G&D); 1905 Mrs M A Birkett, George Hotel (1909-1919 listed at the Windmill, Market Place); 1909 William Dales, George Hotel; 1913 Mrs Alice Hannah Dales, George Hotel; 1919 Mrs Fanny Redford.
