Chandos Recreation Ground

A name linked with the history of the area. In the 18th century nearby Canons Park was the home of James Brydges, Duke of Chandos. The name can be traced back to a village called Candos in Normandy. The title ceased to exist in 1789 when the last Duke of Chandos died with no heir.
