Eling tide mill and toll bridge

A toll is being collected alongside the tide mill building. The mill continues to mill flour using tidal power on one set of mill-stones. Sluices hold the rising tide water in the mill pond and when the tide is falling the water from the pond is channelled to drive the water wheel which, through a series of huge cog wheels, drives the milling stone. The building seen here dates from the late 18th century and is grade II* listed
