The A57 has been closed temporarily to allow the Denton Carnival parade to pass by. On the left is the Liberal Club, an early example of the use of Accrington Nori bricks, renowned for their quality, hardness, strength and durability. It was built in 1894 at a cost of nearly £3,000, the architect being Joseph Lindley of Hyde. The walls are relieved by stone dressings and the windows have stone cills. Part of the ground floor is now occupied by the estate agents "Your Move". On the right is the florists Buttercups and Daises. The ground floor premises in between were, until recently, home to estates agents Reeds Rains but this branch has now closed.
