Dating from the opening of the cemetery in 1857, designed by James Pigott Pritchett & Sons of York, who had an established reputation as cemetery architects. It takes the standard form of paired chapels (for Church of England and Non-conformist services respectively) with a central carriageway surmounted by tower and spire. Listed Grade II. The cemetery itself is a Grade II Listed Park.
