Inscribed over the door is Culter Public Library and Reading Room erected 1888 instituted 1838 It was built on land donated by Mr Baillie of Culter Allers (from 'Village Trails in Clydesdale & Tweeddale' by Rosemary Turpie and Ian Gilchrist, Quothquan Trails 2015)
