They were made by St Pancras Ironwork Co founded by Henry Bessemer and based at Old St Pancras Road in London NW and York Road at Kings Cross. In 1868 the firm was advertised as engineers, ironfounders and smiths, selling amongst other items wrought iron and other stable fittings, Scott's Patent glass walls and economical greenhouses. Sir Henry Bessemer (19 Jan 1813–15 March 1898) was an English inventor whose steel-making process became the most important technique for making steel in the 19th century for almost one hundred years from 1856 to 1950. He developed his own, the so-called Bessemer Process for the manufacture of steel and also played a significant role in establishing the town of Sheffield as a major industrial centre.
