Langton House was demolished in 1950. Pevsner gives a full description of these gates. Built in 1877 an extravagant Neo-Jacobean exercise with tall pulvinated piers topped by obelisks, flanked by corniced pedestrian entrances surmounted by strapwork pediments. Balustraded walls with carved strapwork, linking to further piers, etc. North Lodge is just to the right, pity about the bins, but they spoil countless Geographs
