Fruit and nuts of Sweet (Spanish) Chestnut

The nuts are enclosed in a green husk with sharp spines. This tree is by the car park of Mad Bess Wood in Ruislip. Chestnut trees were introduced to England by the Romans and are common, particularly in parkland.
