The building has an interesting history. It dates from the 18th century and was originally a warehouse belonging to the draper opposite. In 1902 it was converted into a fire station. Then in 1973 it was restored and converted into a house and shop. A highly regarded fine dining restaurant and bar called Belle House operated here for about fifteen years. This closed on the 27th July 2019 when the proprietors decided not to renew the lease for personal reasons (as reported in the Worcester News). The building is Grade II listed.
