This mill was operating a combined heat and power plant with three back-pressure reciprocating steam engines. Two were in the tall narrow engine house near the chimney base. This plant certainly ran into the 1990s and was a late example having been installed in the 1980s. It is sadly missed. This was a Saturday morning visit and there was a snow flurry soon after I had taken this picture. This mill, from this angle, is depicted on the cover of "Made in Huddersfield" by Jack Ramsay. Anybody who loves high quality monochrome millscapes should invest in this book. The personal angle is also quite good reading.
