This prominent standing stone, some 2m high, is not marked on current OS maps and one must consult 19thC maps to find its name. Was it some sort of boundary stone, or a marker to show a route across the moor? One cannot be sure. In the distance are some of the gritstone outcrops of Palleys Crags.
