These buildings look very much as if they could indeed date from shortly after the battle of Waterloo. Careful observation of the left hand building shows that there is an arc of brickwork in the wide space between the first floor windows. It is not clear whether there was formerly a complete archway through the building to allow carts to pass into a yard; this would have been very unusual in a building of this size.
