With Foundry Lane bearing left after a few metres. The original Llanidloes Foundry opened in 1851, making agricultural implements and machinery for the local lead mines, then moved close to the new railway when it reached the town in 1864. These days the foundry produces castings for the automotive industry and was threatened with closure in 2001.
