Hidden behind Wilderness Plantation, Mavis Valley is East Dunbartonshire's waste transfer station. Household and commercial waste is taken here before being transferred to either landfill or a recycling contractor. Prior to the construction of the station, this was the site of the Mavis Valley Colliery. Once the shafts and groundworks were infilled, the area was eventually landscaped and the Transfer station constructed.
