The church was built in 1870 in gothic revival style by William Swinden Barber to replace the "Dissenters Chapel" of 1810 which stood on an adjacent site. Listed grade II (list entry 1135375) although the listing surprisingly makes no mention of the tall spire. The clock is by Potts of Leeds.
