This view facing north-west shows the road leading out of the village. The north Hampshire town of Andover is a kilometre or so south of here behind the viewpoint. The village is not remarkable apart from its name with its associations with the second world war battle of Alamein in north Africa which, in its way, was a turning point in the war. It was said that from then on Britain never lost a battle against the Axis powers.
