The invading vegetation cover has been removed to reveal the remains of the animal pound where beasts that had strayed from Stivichall Common were kept until their owners reclaimed them. It is believed to date back to at least 1663 and the large stone blocks visible in the south wall are considered likely to date from the 17th century, the remainder being 19th century. It was restored in the 1970s but the plaque recording the restoration, visible in Image] (2010) has disappeared.
