This rather unusual terrace dates from the early 1900s and was originally built for housing the gas works' workers. The terrace is built of clinker > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/6201333 used originally to line the gas kilns. A second such terrace (St Leonard Terrace) is situated a short distance further down the steep hill, and just as difficult to photograph. The gas works were situated a short distance further from here at the bottom of Gas Hill.
