From 1845 to the late 1860s the pub was known as the Mousehold Tea Gardens. The first licensee was James Foulsham in 1839. The pub was built on the site of a shepherd's hut (source: http://www.norfolkpubs.co.uk/norwich/knorwich/nckwi6.htm ) Update 4 November 2020 - The pub's freeholder, Peachtree Services Limited, has lodged a bid with Norwich City Council to extend the building and convert it into nine apartments. The pub is hence set to close.
