Statue of Stanley Baldwin on Load Street in Bewdley. Baldwin was born just around the corner on Red Hill in 1867 and was MP for Bewdley from 1908 to 1937. He served three times as Conservative prime minister in the 1920s and 1930s (1923-24, a short break, 1924-29, 1935-37). He was also Chancellor of the Exchequer in 1922 under Andrew Bonar Law's short tenure as PM. Stanley Baldwin was prime minister at the time of the General Strike in 1926, and during the Abdication Crisis of 1936. Stanley Baldwin holds one record in that he is the only prime minister to have served three monarchs: George V, Edward VIII and George VI. The statue was unveiled by the Duke of Gloucester in September 2018 in the presence of current MP Mark Garnier (Con) and Kidderminster-born Labour deputy, Tom Watson. The statue was sculpted by Martin Jennings.
