Fearing this was a fairly featureless square I had put off visiting this square. But what a gem, the Woodland Trust has transformed 14 acres of arable land into Wainstones Wood, an isolated pocket of Open Access countryside. The wood consists of a variety of native broadleaved trees: oak, ash, cherry, rowan, field maple, birch, hawthorn, blackthorn, hazel and holly.
