Unlike the naturally fed ponds at Crowtrees Nature Reserve to the East, this series of fenced ponds stand at the edge of the former Steetley Lime Works. The largest pond contains apparatus to maintain aeration, suggesting the water requires treatment prior to release into Coxhoe beck.
