Surrounded by wetland on the Tullyneal Road, this church is sometimes known as the Bog Church. Its formation in the 1840s resulted from a schism in the Clerkesbridge Presbyterian Church over membership of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ireland. The church, built in 1851, is a constituent of a secessionist movement from the Presbyterian Church dating back to the 1690s. The Reformed Presbyterian Church has 43 churches on the island of Ireland, most of them in Northern Ireland, and around 2000 communicants.
