The Grade II Listed https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1384285 War Memorial in Norfolk Square consists of a stone monument on a multi-stepped base and topped by a statue of an angel holding a laurel wreath Image It was sculptured by Vernon March in 1920. The inscription for World War I is: IN GRATEFUL MEMORY OF THE MEN OF GLOSSOP WHO IN THE GREAT WAR GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR COUNTRY, 1914-1918. "THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE" and for World War II: IN GRATEFUL MEMORY OF THOSE WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR KING AND COUNTRY IN THE GREAT WORLD WAR 1939 - 1945 There are also four metal plaques carrying the names of Glossop residents who were killed in the two World Wars.
