The Portland stone column was commissioned to mark the 400th anniversary of the granting of Romsey's Charter, and unveiled by the Queen in June 2007. The sculpture by Gary Breeze depicts words and images creating a 'sculptural map' of the town. It is situated beside the old Magistrates Court in an area rather cluttered with street furniture.
