This fine timber-framed house on Henley-in-Arden High Street dates from 1579, with later alterations and additions in the 18th and 20th centuries. The building is Grade II listed, see: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1382386 There is a plaque on the front of the building informing that this was the home of railway pioneer William James, who was born in Henley-in-Arden in 1771. Had events been different he might have been more famous today, if he had been able to built a steam railway between Stratford-upon-Avon and Moreton-in-Marsh, due to lack of fune it was downgraded to a horse drawn tramway.
