Sampson was born on 8 February 1857 in Uttoxeter https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uttoxeter and graduated from Clare College Cambridge in 1880 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clare_College,_Cambridge In that year he was ordained Deacon, and in 1882. He served his title at St Mary, Saffron Walden https://www.stmaryssaffronwalden.org/ before coming to Buriton https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/6134501 in 1883. After his time in Sheet he was Vicar of Ramsdell https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramsdell and Rural Dean of Silchester until his death on 7 November 1927 https://archive.org/details/p2alumnicantabri05univuoft/page/408
