The Portpatrick Railway, aka The Port Road, or Paddy crossed a minor road just outside Portpatrick. Soon after opening, the ferry port moved to Stranraer. The railway was very scenic, sadly only part of the trackbed is promoted as an unmotorised route, but that does include the remote bit north of Gatehouse of Fleet. That bit of the line featured in the book version of The 39 Steps. There is a large caravan site on the left.
