Situated in Poplar Road B91 3AB, this redbrick TE has the code CMSOL and provides telephone and broadband services to 15,171 residential and 734 non-residential premises in Solihull plus Catherine-de-Barnes nearby. It used to have SOLihull numbers until the late 1960s, but now has 0121-703,704,705,709,711,712 and 713 xxxx numbers. The notice on the gate refers to The Exchange, Solihull which is a collection of 12 two-bedroom luxuriously appointed 'loft style' apartments and penthouses. It is becoming more common for TEs to give up part of their space for conversion into apartments, as the current digital equipment in the TE doesn't take up the same amount of room as the old switching equipment used to do. The entrance to The Exchange can be seen on the extreme left of the photo. Mobile phone aerials have been fixed to the roof of this TE.
