Built in 1582 by George Keith, 5th Earl Marischal (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Keith,_5th_Earl_Marischal ) who founded Marischal College in Aberdeen (later the University of Aberdeen) and originally attached to the now vanished medieval church.
