The basic house dates from c.1830, probably designed by PF Robinson and built by William Paterson for the fourth Duke of Newcastle as part of his early 19th century development of the Park Estate. Altered c.1860 by Thomas Hine, and c.1880 by Watson Fothergill. Listed Grade II. The whole of the tower appears to be by Fothergill. Although he did not normally work with stucco, the top storey is clearly in his idiom, as is the oriel window and the front door http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/6118018 . Hine's work is not obviously defined.
