Carved stone post by the A628, in parish of Penistone (Barnsley District), Barnsley Road, Penistone, between railway bridge and Well House Lane, by bus stop, in little garden just West of Windermere Road, on South side of road. Erected by the Doncaster & Salter's Brook turnpike trust in the 18th century. Inscription reads:- Barnsley 7 Miles Manchester 29 Miles Grade II listed.
