Cast iron post by the B197 (was A1), in parish of Welwyn (Welwyn Hatfield District), Mardley Hill, outside North Star PH, Oaklands, on the verge, on North West side of road. Cheshunt iron casting, erected by the Welwyn turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : STEVENAGE / 5 : : WELWYN / PARISH : : LONDON / 26 : Maker:- : (Champness of Cheshunt) : Grade II listed.
