Carved stone post by the B6165, in parish of Ripley (Harrogate District), 400m East of junction with the A61, on the verge in dip on bad bend, on North side of road. Knaresborough stone, erected by the Knaresborough & Pateley Bridge turnpike trust in the 18th century. Inscription reads:- : KNARES / BOROUGH / 4 / {hand->} : : PATELEY / BRIDGE / 10½ / {<-hand} : North Yorkshire HER.
