15th Century house with an 18th Century front. It was built by Richard Whittington, nephew of Dick Whittington, Lord Mayor of London, and was originally called St Nicholas House. It was converted to a pub in 1980. Grade I listed - see www.historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1245074.
