Detail from the large mural on the wall fronting the car park in Brightwell Walk. The mural is by the Argentinian-born urban artist Hyuro. It was created in 2016 for the “Cities of Hope Festival”, a Mural project that invited artists to Manchester with the objective of drawing attention to social justice issues. For her mural entitled ¨War impact in children lives¨, Hyuro focused on how armed conflict and violence affects the lives of many children in different parts of the world. In addition to the direct consequences of war and armed violence they are also indirectly affected by displacement, loss of family and trauma caused by the acts of violence they witness. In her words “This wall is intended to give voice to all the lost innocence, all children who are fighting for their own survival, unable, in front of the eyes of all, to live a childhood as they deserve” https://bit.ly/2D0aCth.
