The footbridge runs on the top of the Talla Reservoir aqueduct over the Tarth Water. The aqueduct supplies water to Edinburgh through pipes and tunnels over a 35 mile length - see https://canmore.org.uk/site/276399/talla-reservoir-aqueduct.
