Metal plate attached to stone post by the A64, in parish of Scampston (Ryedale District), Scampston Park, by wall near former entrance to Scampston Hall, on North side of road. Old Rydale iron plate, erected by the York to Scarborough turnpike trust in the 18th century. Inscription reads:- SCARBORO 17 MALTON 5 Grade II listed.
