Cast iron post by the A49, in parish of Standish (Wigan District), Preston Road; Standish, by No. 247, against wall, on East side of road. Wigan fan iron casting, erected by the Wigan & Preston (south of Yarrow) turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- LANGTREE. 4 MILES TO WIGAN. 13 MILES TO PRESTON. {curlicew} 1837 {curlicew} Maker:- HAIGH FOUNDRY Grade II listed.
